Deftones Share Leigh Whannell-Directed Video for "Ceremony"
Cleopatra Coleman stars in the band's latest 'Ohms' visual
Published Apr 21, 2021Deftones have teamed with Leigh Whannell for a new music video. The Invisible Man director has helmed visuals for the band's "Ceremony," which you can watch below.
The clip for Deftones' Ohms cut finds star Cleopatra Coleman making her way through a series of secretive bars (which may or may not serve White Pony tequila), with band members serving as the bouncers of each establishment.
The deeper Coleman's character goes, the stranger the cover charges become, and it isn't long before she joins some other distraught patrons struggling to make their way out.
Frontman Chino Moreno explained in a statement that the collaboration with Whannell came about through social media. "One moment we're DMing each other on Twitter, and the next we're on set making 'Ceremony,'" he said. "This has always been the best way for us to collaborate: organically, collaboratively and in this case, expeditiously. We hope everyone enjoys it as much as we had making it."
Whannell added: "I've been a huge Deftones fan for over 20 years and have always admired the devotion they have dedicated to every aspect of their art — from music videos to album covers to their cryptic and intriguing lyrics. To get a chance to be a part of that art was a dream come true."
Exclaim! named Ohms one of the 50 Best Albums of 2020, while also naming The Invisible Man one of the 13 Best Films of 2020.
