Jim Carrey Paints Sean Hannity as a Manatee in New Portrait
Published Apr 17, 2018Jim Carrey has been expressing his feelings toward the Donald Trump administration through art, and the latest White House-adjacent victim of his painting is the Trump-supporting conservative talk show host Sean Hannity.
Yesterday (April 16), it was revealed during a court hearing that Hannity was allegedly a client of Trump's personal lawyer, Michael Cohen.
Carrey shared his artistic interpretation of Hannity via Twitter last night, making a play on the TV personality's last name and turning him into a manatee.
The painting was simply captioned: "Sean Manatee: some endangered species aren't worth saving!"
Following his involvement with the Stormy Daniels cover-up scandal and an alleged pay-out of $130,000 to the porn star, Cohen's New York home and office were raided by the feds last week. Both Cohen and Daniels appeared in court yesterday, as Cohen fought to protect seized documents and electronic devices under "attorney-client privilege." It was during this hearing that Cohen disclosed Hannity's name.
"Michael Cohen has never represented me in any matter," Hannity said in a statement via Fox News. "I never retained him, received an invoice, or paid legal fees. I have occasionally had brief discussions with him about legal questions about which I wanted his input and perspective. I assumed those conversations were confidential, but to be absolutely clear they never involved any matter between me and a third party."
Hannity maintains that his dealings with Cohen were strictly about real estate matters.
Nevertheless, Hannity's journalistic ethics have been called into question, as he's frequently covered Cohen-related stories without disclosing his relationship to the lawyer.
Carrey's previous political painting subjects include Trump and press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders. There's still no word on whether comedian Chris Locke will be given the same treatment.
