Published Apr 18, 2011Meaford, ON's Electric Eclectics has grown into one of the most thrillingly strange festivals in Canada in its half-decade of existence. This year, the sixth annual Electric Eclectics looks to be no different, as organizers have unveiled the first confirmed acts of the event that takes place from July 29 to 31.
So far, Brooklyn-based looping songstress Julianna Barwick leads the confirmed acts alongside noisy reverb pop act U.S. Girls, Los Angeles goth-folk singer Chelsea Wolfe and San Francisco sound art guru Matt Heckert.
Most excitingly, long-running London, ON group Nihilist Spasm Band will make a headlining appearance at the fest. Credited by many as the world's first noise band, the group formed in 1965 and have developed a career on inventing their own instruments.
Many more performers are slated to be announced in the coming weeks. For more details on Electric Eclectics, including information on tickets, head to the festival website here.
