Published Sep 11, 2015Houston, we have a lyric video. Canadian Astronaut Chris Hadfield is counting down to the October 9 blast-off of his Space Sessions: Songs from a Tin Can, and for the time being, he is launching a lyric video for his song "Ride That Lightning."
The song features a traditional-sounding folk melody that orbits around a percussive, soul-inspired arrangement. While the title sounds like a Metallica reference, it's actually a metaphor for a rocket blasting off into space. As for the lyric video, it's a vibrant cartoon filled with backwoods bike rides, high-flying ski jumps and rockets.
Hadfield said in a statement, "Flying rockets is dangerous fun. This song celebrates my 3rd spaceflight, rejoicing in riding that lighting one more time." Check out the out-of-this-world clip below.
Space Sessions: Songs from a Tin Can, which was patly recorded while orbiting Earth, will arrive through Warner Music. One more lyric video from the album will be released in due course.
