Published Oct 08, 2020All kinds of Halloween offerings will come to Netflix Canada this month, but none are spookier than the fact the streaming service will be raising its subscription prices again.
Today, Netflix Canada announced the price of its standard monthly plan will going up by $1 to $14.99, while a premium plan will jump by $2 to $18.99.
The basic plan, which allows for viewing one screen at a time and does not offer high-definition video, will remain unchanged at $9.99 a month. The standard plan allows viewers simultaneous viewing on two screens at once, while the premium plan four simultaneous streams and 4K video.
New Netflix members will see the updated prices effective immediately upon signing up, while existing members will see them rolled out according to their billing cycle. The service says the price increase allows them to "invest more in films and shows as well as the quality of members' product experience."
Netflix Canada had last raised subscription prices in November of 2018. The company recently cancelled the final season of GLOW and The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, among others. It was also indicted in a Texas court over film Cuties.
