Further proving the company refuses to live in the past, it has updated the name of the 20th Century Fox brand. No, Disney still won't reference the fact that we're in the 21st century now. Instead, it's dropped the word "fox" from the branding.
As first reported by the New York Times, Disney reps confirmed that both 20th Century Fox and Fox Searchlight will remove the F-word from their branding. This is most likely an effort to distance themselves from Rupert Murdoch's controversial Fox News brand, which he still owns in the terms of the deal.
Downhill, which arrives next month, will be the first film to be released under the Searchlight Pictures banner. February will also see the arrival of The Call of the Wild through the 20th Century company.
Still, Disney has not fully followed through and renamed its 1981 animated feature to The and the Hound.
